The current Green-Schools Committee (Mr O’ Shea’s Sixth Class) have been working very hard to promote safe, sustainable travel within the school and community of Carraig na bhFear. Pupils have been encouraged to walk, scoot and cycle to school, through a variety of initiatives such as, Walk on Wednesdays and Park & Stride from the playground. We have seen a huge increase in the number of people walking and cycling to school so well done to all involved. Our Green-Schools Committee are very proud to have achieved the prestigious Green-Schools Travel Flag this year and we will be formally presented with it in September.
In addition, Scoil an Athar Tadhg applied for, and were awarded with new cycle parking for all our enthusiastic cyclists. Our new bike racks and shelters are large enough to store 30 bicycles to keep them safe and dry during the school day. We hope that our new cycle shelter gets plenty of use by school-going population for many years to come.
